CLINICAL BACKGROUND AND MY APPROACH TO CARE
I direct the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Program at University Hospital. I consult on patients with a variety of movement disorders: Parkinsonism, dystonia, chorea, tics, myoclonus, gait disorders and restless legs syndrome. I evaluate possible candidates for surgical treatment of movement disorders and manage the stimulators in patients that had Deep Brain Stimulation.

Dr. Mihaila did an incredibly thorough examination. I've seen several other neurologists for my pain and he stands out as being the most concerned and sensitive to my issues. He did not give up even though he was obviously uncertain as to what factors are contributing to my pain syndrome. I was very grateful.

Dr Mahaila is an excellent physician. He is very knowledgeable of the Parkinson's Disease and various forms of treatment. I am very comfortable with Dr Mahaila and his staff I am confident is his assessment of my condition and his Action Plan for treatment. I am very glad I met with him. Although there is no cure for Parkinson's at this time, Dr Mahaila gives me hope for my future.

The resident when giving instructions used words that confused me dad. When i said the same sentence using a different word, my dad could answer the questions quicker and correctly. My dad is from Switzerland, speaks 3 languages, but got confused with "analogies" and I used "similarities".

Dr. Mahaila is one of the most caring physicians I have ever met. He listens, asks questions about home life and any issues that exist. Recommends therapy, possibly changes in medications, adjusts the DBS if necessary; I could not ask for a more caring Doctor. He is wonderful!!
